The Magical Yet

On April 14th, my newest book, The Magical Yet, will be released.

With the support of my publisher, Little, Brown Young Readers, I was planning on hitting the road to share this book with readers. Unfortunately, the landscape of our world has changed greatly, and like you, I am at home and no longer traveling,

This is a difficult time for all of us, and I’ve been thinking about all of you. I know it’s tough that you can’t return to school YET, you can’t see your friends YET, and your days aren’t like they used to be – YET.

But, please know, with the Yet as your guide along the way, you’ll do all the things you can’t do today.

This is SUMMER!

After a persistent and frigid winter, and a slow growing Spring, we have at long last turned the page to reveal the early days of Summer. As inches of snow turned into feet, and layer upon layer of sweaters, scarves and mittens muffled the promise of warmth and sunshine, I took solace in knowing that the bulbs hibernating below mounds of snow, ice and dirt would one day emerge with their sparks of green. Finally, the sparks have expanded into explosions of pink peonies and blazes of purple irises. Our weather forecasts now regularly show icons with tiny suns. The crickets sing, the birds are nesting and the fireflies flash.

Winter slumbers. Spring is taking a bow. This is Summer.

With the anticipation of Summer, came my eagerness to FINALLY launch a website. Gazing upon bright, cheerful color palettes, creating inviting inspiration boards and looking forward to connecting with children, parents, teachers, and librarians, was a beacon of warmth guiding my imagination through the slowly melting frozen New England tundra. Like my books, I wanted to create a warm and cozy place. A place to see things that make you smile.
